20 Mar Janet
Janet “just wanted to help kids.” To do that, she contacted Angels and went through the training to become a single foster parent. Little did she know she would become the mother of two young boys. Her story began in January of 2009 when she got the call and Josh was placed in her home. He was 18 months old when she picked him up from Polinsky Children’s Center. Josh had been there for a few weeks before Angels knew about him and when he came into Janet’s home he thrived and she fell in love with him. When reunification was no longer an option Josh’s younger brother, Jayden, moved in with Janet and Josh and she ecstatically agreed to adopt them both. The boys’ adoptions were finalized in May of 2010 and they have found their forever family together.
Just before the adoption Janet wrote Angels, saying:
“I just wanted to write a note to say thank you so much for everything. I had my “telling” last Thursday, it felt really good to get past that milestone and to sign adoption papers. This has been a long process. I am so appreciative and humbled by your constant support, encouragement, wisdom and empathy. Never in a million years would I have guessed I would be sitting here today adopting two children. It is a great blessing and I am forever indebted to each of you for enabling this to happen.
I don’t think there is a word to describe the love that I feel for these boys, but it fills me up and warms me and it brings tears to my eyes. Their laughter is the most beautiful sound I have ever heard. They had a bummer of a start on this planet and it is my mission to make every single day from here forward the best day they could possibly have.
Lots of love to you,
